ABOUT THE WOMAN’S CLUB
The General Federation of Women's Clubs is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
As you can see in the pictures, this is a beautiful Craftsman building, but there are some areas that need updating desperately. One of those areas is the Kitchen. There were some minor updates completed in the 1960’s, but there isn’t much known about how long ago anything was done prior to then.
Since the Eureka Woman’s Club relies on funds from renting its hall and kitchen, to not only maintain the building but to also help serve the community, it is imperative that the kitchen be updated. The newly remodeled kitchen will help the members continue with the First Friday Food fundraiser, their annual Waffle Breakfast, and will entice more community members to rent the facilites.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Unfortunately, this kitchen needs to be gutted. The sub-floor is soft in some places which leads me to believe that there is water damage. We will have to look at repairing/replacing parts of the sub-floor as well as updating the galvanized piping to PEX piping which is as durable as copper but a fraction of the cost. Aside from the new drywall, updated plumbing, updated electrical, and new venting system, the Kitchen requires new commercial flooring, cabinets, countertops, appliances, double paned windows, hardware, and a paint job.
I am working diligently with local businesses that are willing to donate partial materials or labor, but this kitchen is going to easily cost $150,000. Members of the club are working to apply for grants, host fundraisers, and do all that they can to help raise funds. However, if you are able, they would GREATLY appreciate a donation. You can donate directly to The Woman’s Club. They are a non-profit organization, so your donation is tax deductible.
*Please note that all of K.Co Interiors, LLC’s time on this project is donated.
